A series of three illustrations designed to promote 2SER Radio, a community educational radio station owned by UTS and Macquarie University.
The series is based on the concept of "One Size Fits All", which reflects 2SER’s aim to respond to a diverse Sydney community.
Shoelace Type: This design was selected as a shortlisted entry for 2SER's advertising and merchandise. Tying in with the shoe concept, the decorative swirls mimic both shoelaces and radio antennae. A sense of playful interaction is enhanced by the hand illustrated type.
Digital mockups were created for the 2SER board to visualise the illustrations on potential merchandise.
Blue Shoes: The positioning of the shoelaces makes the shoes appear to be flying in the air or from another perspective, they could be dancing together. The imagery depicts that 2SER is committed to freedom of enquiry and promoting interaction between community groups.
The Fairest Shoe: This illustration appears to contain a mirror, which relates to the statement “Who is the fairest of them all?” in Disney’s “Snow White”. Instead, the caption “One Size Fits All” highlights 2SER’s promotion of social justice and diversity.
Colour schemes involve blues and vintage hues, employing the station’s existing colour scheme and appealing to the target audience’s age demographic with a vintage feel. A combination of media has been explored throughout this series of illustrations, experimenting with pen, watercolour, ink and gouache.
